Opening Nite -- "Alice in Wonderland" Jr.

Last night was the opening nite of "Alice in Wonderland". It was the family nite, so all the rest of you will have to wait until tonight to go : ) The cast and crew did a WONDERFUL job!!! I have never really liked this story/movie, so I was hoping it would be good. The kids all were great and the singing was great too! We were very proud of Talon, of course, he did a great job too! He played three different roles; the Royal Cardsmen, the Doorknob and a Crab. I am actually excited to go back and see it again, ha. If you haven't gotten tickets, I think there are a few left so give them a call. I would like to say thank you to all of our family that was able to be there, it made Talon happy to see you all there -- Mamaw, Gma & Gpa Hysel, Aunt Elizabeth & Tony, Nana & Papa, Aunt Darlene, Aunt Mary & Uncle John and gang, cousins Bob, DD & Becca. We hope you enjoyed yourselves!

Weekend Fun - 6/21/08

This weekend was full of fun and making memories! We had a bridal shower for my niece Megan, on Saturday and then on Sunday, we headed to New Castle to stay at my sisters. We haven't been there since fall, so it was time to go visit. We were able to spend the weekend with my parents, so that was nice since we didn't get to see them on Mother's Day or Father's Day. The kids had lots of fun riding horses, riding go-carts, playing in the sandbox, etc. On Monday, we hung around the house and just chilled out for the day. On Monday evening, the guys had a bachelor party for LaMorris and us girls went out to dinner. The guys went out to eat, played some hoops and then...Stan rented the go-cart track from 10-mid-night. Needless to say, we didn't get home until around 2:00 a.m. We had a great weekend, thanks for having us Stan & Shirley!

We said NO boys allowed, but he was sooo cute, we allowed him to stay :) Maverick is such a doll baby and such a good baby boy!

Men..You Wanna Take a Train Ride?!

Three women and three men are traveling by train to the football game. At the station, the three men each buy a ticket and watch as the three women buy just one ticket. 'How are the three of you going to travel on only one ticket?' asks one of the men. 'Watch and learn,' answers one of the women. They all board the train. The three men take their respective seats but all three women cram into a bathroom together and close the door. Shortly after the train has departed, the conductor comes around collecting tickets. He knocks on the bathroom door and says, 'Ticket, please. The door opens just a crack, and a single arm emerges with a ticket in hand. The conductor takes it and moves on. The men see this happen and agree it was quite a clever idea; so, after the game, they decide to do the same thing on the return trip and save some money. When they get to the station they buy a single ticket for the return trip but see, to their astonishment, that the three women don't buy any ticket at all!! 'How are you going to travel without a ticket?' says one perplexed man. 'Watch and learn,' answer the women. When they board the train, the three men cram themselves into a bathroom, and the three women cram into another bathroom just down the way. Shortly after the train is on its way, one of the women leaves her bathroom and walks over to the bathroom in which the men are hiding. The woman knocks on their door and says, 'Ticket, please.' I'm still trying to figure out why men ever think they are smarter than women : ) Have a great day!

Happy 13th Birthday Courtney

I would like to wish my niece, Courtney, a Happy 13th Birthday today! I can't believe she is a teenager, but she is. Happy birthday Sis, I hope you have a great day! You have went from a sweet, little girl to a nice teen aged "woman" who truly cares about those around you. I wish you lots of happiness and success in your future. We love you!
Love,
Aunt Niece & Uncle Jerry

Happy Belated Father's Day

I would like to say Happy Belated Father's Day to a couple special guys in my life! First of all to my father, Lee, for bringing me into this world. Well I know he didn't actually "bring me into this world", but he did have something to do with it : ) You are the BEST Dad a girl could ask for!!! You have taught me many important things in life; importance of having God in my life, how to keep peace in a family (after all, what good is it going to do to stir up trouble?!), how to work (mowing/beautify yards, cutting wood, picking strawberries, doing dishes, etc. etc.), how to enjoy the simple things in life, take time with your kids (they grow up WAY TOO FAST), and on and on! I LOVE YOU with all my heart and wish I could spend more time with you! You bring love, fun, joy and candy every time your around : ) I know I couldn't be with you on Father's Day, but I will see you this weekend.

Now for the "other man in my life", my hubby, Jerry! You are a wonderful Father to our children! You provide for them and make sure that they NEVER lack for anything they need, but show them that you can get by without all the things you want in life (material things). You brighten our days (most of the time : ) and our nights too! We love you and want to wish you a Happy Belated Father's Day since we didn't really get to on Sunday.

Keep the Faith

For All You Blondes

I recieved this from a friend of mine, enjoy : )

Replacement Windows:

Last year I replaced all the windows in my house with that expensive double-pane energy efficient kind, and today, I got a call from the contractor who installed them. He was complaining that the work had been completed a whole year ago and I still hadn't paid for them.

Helllooooo? Just because I'm blonde doesn't mean that I am automatically stupid. So, I told him just what his fast talking sales guy had told me last year, that "In ONE YEAR these windows would pay for themselves!"

Helllooooo? It's been a year!

There was only silence at the other end of the line, so I finally just hung-up. He never called back. Guess I won that stupid argument.

I bet he felt like an idiot.

Pray for The Davis Family

Tonight we went with some friends to Columbus for the viewing of Brian Davis (Gene Davis' brother). It was so sad to see a family dealing with much sadness. Gene seemed to be doing well, but he has had to be a major support for his parents, as well as other family members, which I'm sure will hit him hard some day. Angie seemed to be the support system for much of the family, as she went from family member to family member, making sure they were doing ok. They all have a long road ahead of them, so please keep them in your prayers as this passing away of Gene's brother was a total shock to all of them! Please pray that God will give them the comfort and peace they need to help them now and in the future as they deal with their loss!

Weekend Review

On Saturday we were among the HUGE crowd, to attend Denisa (Campbell) and Brent Stetler's wedding. It was a FULL house, plus some! I felt so bad for them that it rained and rained and rained, but it ended up being nice at the end of the reception. The rain was so bad, that a lot of people could wring the water out of their clothes : ( All and all, it was a very nice wedding and reception. We are so happy for the both of you, may God give you a lifetime of love, memories, babies and more : ) --While at their reception, something happened that I had never seen before... Greg George purposed to Debbie Fry. When he headed up to the microphone, and said "I talked with Debbie's day this morning and asked him if I could marry Debbie", I thought "oh my word, I can't believe he is doing this"! Of course it was shocking enough to me, I can't imagine how Debbie felt : ) It was very neat, Denisa took Debbie by the hand and walked her up to Greg so he could purpose, very sweet of Denisa and Brent to "share their day" with Debbie and Greg. BTW, she said yes! Congrats to Debbie & Greg!

Sunday we decided to stay home for church instead of going to camp in Greenville to try and save some $$$ by not filling the gas tank. We didn't have Sunday school so we were able to sleep in a little, yea! Once we got there, we were sad to learn that our Jr. Church leader (Gene Davis) lost his brother due to a motor-cycle accident. Please remember Gene & Angie Davis and their family in your prayers! I can't even imagine the pain and sadness they are going through.

Catchin' Up

Well it seems like forever since I have made a "real" post...so here goes. The boys finished school on the 23rd of May, with a Fun Day. It wasn't near the fun they had planned on (since it rained and they couldn't have their water fight), but it still was kind of fun they said : ) They had an airplane contest; they could create 2 airplanes and they would be judged on creativity, longest flight and something else I can't remember, lol. Since I totally forgot about this event until the alarm went off that morning, I jumped out of bed and ran down and told them to get up and get dressed fast. They did and then I said "we've got to make airplanes", so that's what they did. Keegan couldn't think of anything so I gave him a few ideas and he did 2 of my suggestions. He drew a farm on one side and a zoo on the other. Talon did an American theme with an eagle and a flag. They turned out pretty good for only having a little bit of time to do them. Keegan won 1st and 2nd place in 2 different categories and Talon won 2nd place in one of the categories. --On the 24th we had an open house to attend in the afternoon and then the awards ceremony was that evening. Both the boys did well and brought home several trophies/metals. We were very proud of their accomplishments!!! --On the 25th we had a beautiful Memorial Service and had a special program in memory of our friends and loved ones that have passed on. This program was arranged by Sarah Fry and she did a WONDERFUL job, thanks so much Sarah for ALL your hard work!!! We also dedicated our church sign in memory of our Dale Bailey. He is missed dearly among our church members (go to www.fbhc.net to view the service and pictures). Later that day we had graduation to attend and then some more open houses. --Memorial Day was fun this year, we had some of our friends over: The Sullivans, The Kricks and The Highlanders! We had a great time eating and catching up with one another, it is great to have friends like them! --Bright and early, well for me (hee hee), Talon started his play practice for "Alice in Wonderland", on the 27th. He has went every day (except Saturday & Sunday), since then. His practice lasts for at least 3 hours a day, ugh. He is enjoying it a lot and can't wait for the performances to get here. If you would like to attend, call 654-6307 to reserve your tickets. The performances are; Thurs. - Sat. June 26-28, 7:00p.m. and a 2:00p.m. performance on the 28th as well. Tickets are only $5.00 and it will be a great musical to attend, your kids will love it! Tickets will go SUPER fast, so call right away if you want tickets. --Keegan has been attending some of the classes at the library this summer, I figure if I have to go in to pick up Talon, I might as well make my trip count and let him get in on some of the fun. So far he has learned about dinosaurs, helicopters and sailboats and has made one of each. His next class is on foods and they will get to sample some of it, he is looking forward to that one. --Miss Kallee is being a sweet, little angel, HA! HA! She thinks she needs to tell the boys what to do since they are home all day : ) I told her to go wake Keegan up this morning and she informed me "I spanked him with my wooden spoon because he didn't get up", LOL! Sure enough, her little wooden spoon laid on the floor by their bedroom door, when I got downstairs : ) --Last but not least, we had our Mission's Service on the 1st and raised over $50,000!!! I was a little worried about how much would be brought in since everyone seems to be sooo stressed to the max with financial burdens, but...God proved to be faithful, once again! If you wish to see scenes from this event, go to our church site @ www.fbhc.net. Well I have rambled long enough, so I hope this catches me up for awhile.

Keegan's awards included: Honor Roll, Citizenship, No Failed PACE Tests and Scripture Memorization

Talon's awards were: Honor Roll, No Failed PACE Tests and Scripture Memorization (I didn't get a picture of him with them, because he went to spend the night with his Great-Grandparents that night)

Rude Awakening

Well around 2:45 this morning I had a VERY RUDE awakening! Some guy, I won't say gentleman because I know he's NOT one, called me on my cell. After "hello ,who is this" he said said some, um what should I say... some not-so-nice words to me. Of course he thought it was someone else, but after I told him he had the wrong number, he rattled off some other, colorful words, YIKES!!! I then proceeded to hang up and waited for him to call back, because something told me he wouldn't leave it alone and...sure enough, a couple minutes later he called again. This time, my hubby said "give me the stupid phone"!!! This time he asked (when he heard a man's voice), "is this Lisa's husband"? Jerry wasn't too thrilled and told him the same thing I did, "you have the WRONG number"!!! I figured this would go on a few more times until I shut my phone off, but he didn't call back until tonight while I was making supper. It was basically the same thing (minus the colorful words) "who is this, you called me what do you want"? I proceeded to tell him in a kind, but firm way, "YOU HAVE THE WRONG NUMBER"! I'm sure he was getting ready to use his colorful words again, but I hung up before he could. I wonder how many times this idiot will call before he finally gives up?! I figure I will let it go to voicemail the next time I see it says "private caller" on my id! As I laid there and thought about what had just happened, a thought quickly came to me..."it is only because of God's grace that I don't think or talk like that". I know I wasn't raised in that kind of environment, but yet I have many friends that weren't either; yet they have chosen a different path in life. I am very thankful for God's grace that has been extended to me, so I could choose this path that I'm on.
