Looking For...

I am looking for a set of Adam Clarke commentaries for my Dad for Father's Day. He has expressed that he would like a set of them and that he was told (by Bro. Fritz) they are the best, so... my siblings and I would like to get him a set. I have looked on Ebay for them and they are around $150, ugh. I know that is probably a pretty good deal since the Christian book store told my sister they would be over $200 for a used set. Anyways, I didn't know if anyone out there has a set (Vol.1-6) that they were wanting to get rid of? If so, let me know and I will get ahold of you and see what your asking price would be.

Ebay Bargains

Today I did something that I have been meaning to do forever, but I haven't taken the time -- I listed stuff on Ebay. If you are looking for any skirts or shirts to spruce up your wardrobe, go take a look and see what I have up for bids. I also have several discontinued Home Interior items listed, that would look/smell marvelous in your home, lol! I list under; janiece94, so go see what you can find. If you bid and win an item and are within driving distance and I can bring it to you, instead of paying shipping. Happy Shopping!

When I'm Broke -- I'm Broke

This one is for Jody Johnson who had a nice vacuum salesman come knocking at her door a month or so ago : )

A little old lady answered a knock on the door one day, only to be confronted by a well-dressed young man carrying a vacuum cleaner. "Good morning," said the young man. "If I could take a couple of minutes of your time, I would like to demonstrate the very latest in high-powered vacuum cleaners." "Go away!" said the old lady. "I'm broke and haven't got any money!" and she proceeded to close the door. Quick as a flash, the young man wedged his foot in the door and pushed it wide open... "Don't be too hasty!" he said. "Not until you have at least seen my demonstration." And with that, he emptied a bucket of horse manure onto her hallway carpet. "If this vacuum cleaner does not remove all traces of this horse manure from your carpet, Madam, I will personally eat the remainder." The old lady stepped back and said, "Well let me get you a fork, cause they cut off my electricity this morning." Moral of the story is... "When you're broke, you're broke"! Have a great day!

Kids Fun Fair

Today was our town's Kids Fun Fair, sponsored by the Salvation Army. I promised the kids I would take them, so we got there shortly after it opened. We brought our niece and nephew along so they could have some fun too, since their Mom had to work. Everything there was FREE, so it was a GREAT day for the kids and us too : ) They got lots of freebies; ice cream, balloons, stickers, pencils, etc. etc. Several businesses donated bikes for the event, so each of the kids were able to register for one. Our radio station (Shine 99) was also doing a bike give-away., however, their bike give-away was a little trickier than the other one. There were 9 businesses with a 3 letter code and you had to find those businesses and get those codes. Once you had all 27 letters, you had to figure out a "mystery code". The code was really tricky and NO ONE figured it out, so the ones with one of the main "key words" of the code on their final answer, were put into the drawing. We could make out 3 of the 5 words, but never figured it out. We were told to put down what we could figure out and then submit them, so that is what we did. Anyways, we received a call around 2:30 and they wanted to speak to "Keegan Cooper". Yep, you guessed it, he won a bike, YEA! (this of course made him smile). We drove back in town to pick up the bike, which ended up being, a huge 27" bike. He was happy but he was very concerned that he wouldn't get to ride it for a looonnnggg time. When we got home, Jerry said "let me see that bike" and Keegan started crying and crying. Jerry asked what was wrong and he said "I won't get to ride it until I'm a teenager" : ( It was a bitter-sweet moment for the poor, little fellow. We decided to see if Wal-Mart carried that kind of bike and they did, so...we were able to trade it for a bike that he can ride NOW. He is all smiles once again, because he has a new bike that he can ride NOW!
Talon & Lane battled it out in this bouncy thing.
Kallee excited to the see the "Shine Guy" from Shine 99.

Kallee even enjoyed doing the bike obstacle course.

Indy Motor Speed Way

On Thursday, my hubby and I spent the afternoon at the track. When he asked me if I wanted to go, I said "no, not really, but I will go if you want me to", so... : ) Sometimes you do things for your spouse just because it is something they enjoy. Once in a GREAT while, I get him to go shopping with me, so I guess it was my turn to do something for him. We were given free tickets from a place Jerry sends business to, so we had a pretty cheap date; $10 for parking. I know, we could have probably "parked" a lot cheaper some place else, LOL! The lunch we had was very tasty and that was provided with the free tickets, so you can't beat that. We were able to see a few drivers up close, but others were just a blur as they sped by (at 213 miles/hour : ) When we left, Jerry asked if I had fun and I said something like this "it is the kind of fun you would have if I drug you to the mall, going from store to store, for 4 hours", HA! All in all, it was a day for us to be together, so that was a good thing. Thanks for taking me honey, I know you wanted me to go, so that is why I consented!

Mother/Daughter Banquet 2008

On Tuesday night we were invited to attend a Mother/Daughter Banquet/Tea. This was our first time we were invited to something like this, so I was kind of excited to take Kallee. She was excited too, even though she didn't really know what it was, ha. She couldn't wait to tell her brothers when we picked them up from school, that "we were going to a tea cup" (instead of a tea party : ) I of course had told her we could take her special tea set that Mamaw had bought her, which included her tea cup. This was at my sister Mary's church, at the Summitville Wesleyan Bible Church. All of my sisters were able to be there and all of us had all of our daughters there, except one (Darlene's daughter ended up getting sick and couldn't come). My Mom was suppose to ride from MI with my sister, but she was sick and couldn't make it. We had a nice time and I believe between Kallee and my niece CJ, they drank the most "tea". They loved their tea as long as it had about 4 Splenda packets per cup. Thanks for inviting us Mary, we had a nice time.
Kallee sipping some "tea" (water and several Splenda packets)!
Kallee took a few items from her tea set that her Mamaw bought her for Christmas.

CJ enjoying a cup of "tea" (same as Kallee's). The tea set she took, was the one
that we bought her for her 2nd birthday, it is a plastic Cinderella one.

Another FIL Update

My FIL has been released from the hospital and the doctors don't have a clue to what is wrong. All the tests that have been run came back negative, so...he goes to another doctor next week so hopefully they can figure something out. He is having terrible headaches and isn't feeling well at all. He still is having a hard time remembering some things, so...please just pray that they will be able to figure something out for him next week. Thanks for your prayers!

In other news, Jerry's office was robbed AGAIN last night, AHHHH!!! The person(s) got away with $450 this time around, so they actually made $390 on this break-in. We have an idea of who it is, but won't know until the police run the finger prints that they left all over the place. We hope to nab them this time (if it is the same person). Of course insurance won't cover the $450, so that just leaves us $450 deeper in the hole, ugh! I hope "someone" has learned a lesson with this break-in and won't leave $$$ in the office!!! He usually doesn't leave $$$ in there, but for some reason it got left there last night and... People are so desperate for $$$ right now, they will do just about anything for a little extra.

Update On My FIL

Well my FIL is still in the hospital and they still don't know what is wrong with him. The tests that they have run shows it wasn't a heart-attack or a stroke, so...they are running more tests and they hope to have some answers in the morning. Please keep praying that they will find out what's wrong, so they can at least start treating him and that he can go home.

Weighing In

It was time to weigh in yesterday, but I forgot, so I did it this morning. I figured there wouldn't be any change, but I have lost a total of 7 lbs, YEA! I know it still doesn't show, but I am encouraged to keep at it. Today was my monthly grocery shopping and I bought some fresh fruits and veggies, so I hope that will help. Another thing that would help is, if the stupid weather would cooperate and stop raining or being so windy, ugh! I have an exercise machine inside, but I would much rather jump on my bike and ride a couple miles. It has been so nasty lately I haven't wanted to be drowned or blown to kingdom-come, so I haven't been riding every day. Good luck to the rest of you that are trying to shed those extra pounds!

Pray for my FIL

If you would, I wish you would all pray for my Father-in-law, Reed. They took him to the hospital yesterday morning thinking he may have had a heart-attack, but they don't believe that is what it was. They kept him overnight for observation and have ran a ton of tests on him. They are thinking maybe a stroke of some kind, but still not for sure. I just talked with Jerry and he said they are taking him in for a couple more tests and hopefully they will be able to tell what is going on with him. He does have some memory loss, as of yesterday, he had totally lost Monday. However, he is doing well enough to play a little prank on the nurses... when they asked him what year it was, he replied (with a straight face) "1776"! I guess the nurses didn't know what to think, until he smiled and said "2008"! Anyways, if you could please pray for him and my MIL, Betty, she gets a "little" flustered when it comes to her hubby not feeling/doing well, so she needs prayer too. I will keep you posted. Thanks!

Kallee's 3rd Birthday Party

Last night after church we had a small party for Kallee, since she was gone on her actual birthday. We don't have parties for our kids every year, about every couple or so, so it was time this year. We had a "princess" party for her, thanks mostly to Sara for the decorations : ) One of her girls had this theme a few years ago and she had a table cloth, a banner and tableware left so...I decided I would try to make her cake and it turned out o.k. She liked it, so that's all that matters. I used a different recipe for the frosting than I have in the past and it was really good in flavor, but super soft and wouldn't allow me to make and flowers on the dolls dress or any fancy trim : ( That is the reason for not much detail on her dress, but then again, she liked it so...We were happy to have 21 of our family and friends able to join us; Mamaw & Papaw Cooper, Aunt Elizabeth and her family (even Tony : ), Scott & Kathryn, Dave & Lynette and Sara & Tony. Thanks for coming guys, she was happy you all got to be here!

Mommy's first attempt at a "princess" cake! It didn't cost me $35 either, ha!
Kallee with her princess cake!

Kallee waiting to open her presents!

Keegan went to the store with me one day and found these items for his Sissy -- a hat, a purse and a hair bow. He paid $2.70 for all three, not bad since they all
would have cost him $28 originally : )

Opening presents!

Adalyn enjoyed Kallee's new hat and purse : )

Mother's Day 2008

Yesterday was my 12th Mother's Day, of course I was prego the first year, but that still counts in my mind : ) My hubby always makes sure I get a beautiful corsage, which I truly appreciate! Last year he was a sneak and had his sister make me one and gave it to me at church. I about had a hissy fit when he didn't give me one at home before heading to church, because I look forward to them every year. I know they don't last very long, but that is something I really love getting every Mother's Day! He always makes sure it has at least 3 flowers in it, one for each child. After church we headed home and he and the boys fixed dinner for me; steak, baked potatoes, corn and rolls, yummy! It is a family tradition, that all the guys in his family fix dinner and clean up on Mother's Day, what a great tradition to pass onto our boys! After dinner the kids gave me my gifts which were; a rooster figurine (from the boys) and a Mommy and daughter figurine (from Kallee) Thanks so much Jerry and kids for making my Mother's Day special! I love you all!

This is the angel figurine that Kallee gave me, it is an Mommy with her little girl!
Jerry said when he headed into the jewelers the other day, he saw this in the window and couldn't resist it. He figured it would be WAY over priced, but it wasn't, so... he had Kallee give it to me, it says "All that I am and ever hope to be, I owe to my angel Mother"!

Thanks so much for all you do for me, I love and appreciate you! I would like to wish my MIL, Betty, a Happy Mother's Day as well. We love and appreciate you too!
Happy Mother's Day Mom!

FCA Spring Plays

Friday night was our Spring Plays for FCA. The lower and middle learning centers did "Let's Go, America", directed by; Mrs. Debbie Norfleet (Talon's teacher) and Mrs. Angie Spangler. It was an excellent play, all the kids did great! Of course I was a proud Mama, Talon sang a duet with Janae Derscheid and they did a great job! They sang "40 Hour Week" by Alabama and all the other kids joined on the chorus, it was really good! I tried to upload it to here, two different times, and blogger completely shut my computer down so...Keegan was also a part of this play, he was a little Indian boy -- #7. He loved his costume, he brought it home and was so excited that he got to wear it. The music was directed by one of my best friends, Sara Derscheid, and she did an excellent job, as always : ) --Danae Durgan had a violin solo and she did a wonderful job, she is very talented playing that little violin. --Karris Gardner sang "God Bless the USA" with the choir backing her up, she did so good! We have a lot talented youngin's, way to go everyone! I will keep trying to upload some of the songs, so check back later.

What a Rip Off

I went to Dairy Queen today to see how much a sheet cake would be for Kallee's birthday, and...what a rip off!!! I was floored when the lady told me it would run me around $35, AHHHH!!! I can not believe anyone would spend $35 on a simple birthday cake that will be gone in a matter of minutes! I did have a coupon for $5 off, but still, $30 -- COME ON! I can understand if it was a "special" birthday or event, but she is 3, will she really remember it anyways?! I guess we will go back to the drawing board and probably end up making her a cake. I went to the Dollar Tree and they have little princess dolls that would be perfect to put on a cake, so I think that is what I will do. If anyone wants the (4) coupons I have for the DQ sheet cakes, let me know and you can HAVE them, I don't plan on buying any cakes from them anytime soon, ha!

Indiana Voters--Have You Voted Today???

If you haven't voted today, you NEED to get out there and vote!!! This is one of our American duties and one of the many freedoms we take for granted! This is my first year to work the polls, so I'm kind of nervous, but excited as well. I know you won't let me make an mistakes Bobbie, I'm trusting you to get me through this looonnngg day, ugh (6-6p.m.). I will be working with a friend of mine (Bobbie) and she is an old pro at this, so I shouldn't have to worry about a thing. Have a great day and make sure you VOTE!!

Lipstick on the Mirror

I received this from a friend and thought it was too funny not to share. Have a great day!

A number of 12-year-old girls were beginning to use lipstick and would put it on in the bathroom at school. That was fine, but after they put on their lipstick, they would press their lips to the mirror leaving dozens of little lip prints.
Every night the maintenance man would remove them and the next day the girls would put them back. Finally the principal decided that something had to be done. She called all the girls to the bathroom and met them there with the maintenance man.
She explained that all these lip prints were causing a major problem for the custodian who had to clean the mirrors every night. To demonstrate how difficult it had been to clean the mirrors, she asked the maintenance man to show the girls how much effort was required.
He took out a long-handled squeegee, dipped it in the toilet, and cleaned the mirror with it. Since then, there have been no lip prints on the mirror. : )

Something To Think About...

...here's something that I read in my devotions today, give it a thought.

"It takes intense heat to purify gold and silver. Similarly, it often takes the heat of trials for the Christian to be purified. Through trials, God shows us what is in us and clears out anything that gets in our way of complete trust in him."

When tough times come your way, realize that God wants to use them to refine your faith and purify your heart!

Happy Birthday Baby Girl!!!

I would like to wish our baby girl, Kallee Naraye, a Happy 3rd birthday today! She left this morning with Mamaw & Papaw for her first trip to TN. (without us, that is). She wasn't too sure about going, but I'm sure she will have lots of fun since her brothers and cousins went too. --We love you baby girl and hope you have a great time! We plan on having a party for her when she comes home, with some family and a few friends. I'm still not sure if we will do the Dora theme or a Princess theme. I got online to check out cakes so I could make one, but only found a few I really like so...we will wait and see. --She came into this world on a Sunday morning @ 11:40a.m., weighing 6lbs. 6ozs. She was 2 weeks early, so she surprised us, just like her brothers did. She was so pretty and brothers thought she was so cute and tiny. We had hoped for a girl, but the ultra-sound tech said "you can buy pink, but keep your receipts", HA! After 3 ultra-sounds we were told she was a girl, but...we were very happy when she was a she : ) We have had fun loading her down in ruffles and making her the princess of our home, we are so thankful God gave her to us to spoil (in a good way)!

We took her out for breakfast this morning, even though she kept saying "I don't want a birthday". Jerry told her she was saying that a few years too early, lol. I sat on the edge of her bed this morning and sang Happy Birthday to her, and she just laid there with her little eyes closed and a grin on her face : ) When I finished singing, she said "thank you"!

After opening a couple gifts this morning, she decided she DID want to have a birthday!

Ok these next pictures are my first attempt to scan pictures in, so...I did something wrong but I'm not taking the time to re-doing them, so enjoy them if you can.

Kallee's Dedication pictures, so precious!

These were some of my favorites of her, about 7 months old. I miss those chubby, little cheeks and that deep dimple in her chin : (

1st birthday pictures!

She was just over a year old in these ones --some more that I really love,
taken by Ladonna Covert (http://www.candidmemories.net/)

These are her "cowgirl pictures", she still wants to wear the boots even though I've told her a 100 times, they are waaayyy too small for you : )

These were taken in December '07, so they are not too old.
